Tuition Programmes
Piano lessons at Children's Piano Lessons are designed around each student — whether a four-year-old taking their very first steps in music, a teenager preparing for an internationally recognised examination, or an adult returning to the piano after years away. Every programme is built on the belief that music is for everyone, and that with the right guidance, patience, and practice, any student can achieve a distinction-level standard.
Tuition combines practical piano playing with music theory, ear training, and performance technique. Theory is a compulsory part of every lesson because it gives students the foundation they need to read music fluently, understand what they are playing, and progress with confidence. Students sit examinations through Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, with a long record of top marks in New Zealand.
Lessons are held in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast and welcome students of all ages and abilities, including children with learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. Sessions are typically thirty to forty-five minutes depending on age and level, with younger beginners starting with shorter, playful lessons that build focus and enjoyment over time.
Heidi Schrama has taught piano for more than twenty-five years, and her students have achieved nothing less than distinctions for the past twenty-five years. Whether your goal is examinations, performance, or simply the joy of playing, there is a programme here to suit you.
